"Open your eyes!" Sasuke cried out in a pain worse than any he had ever known, but the body beneath him made no sign of response. Even when Itachi had died, he hadn't felt so...
"Open your god damn eyes already..." the young man repeated, sounding like a scared child. His hands, shaking and bloodstained, wiped the damp blonde hair from his foe's, no... from his friend's forehead. Naruto's face was serene, holding the faintest smile. That tiny expression was almost unreadable, yet it told so much; of everything he had fought for, of the lives he had saved, of the people he had protected. That insignificant smile hit Sasuke hard in the chest with a feeling he could not comprehend.
Unbidden, tears both of frustration and grief sprang to his dark eyes and ran rivers down his pale cheeks, mingling with the blood and dirt there. It began as a whimper, as a plea, grasping Naruto's face between his hands and begging him to respond, and from there it grew into a series of sobs that racked his entire frame. It began to drizzle, but Sasuke did not pay heed to the weather.
"Open your eyes," he demanded yet again, pressing his forehead against Naruto's and gritting his teeth. The feeling inside was overwhelming, spilling out even though he tried so hard to keep it in. He'd spent his whole life being cold and detached from the world, but now, suddenly... Everything burned. Everything. With the icy flames of a white hot fire, his heart was seared like never before.
Naruto was dead.
Shaking, Sasuke gently let his lips brush Naruto's in a desperate gesture that was to small to even have been called a kiss. And then, unable to hold it in any longer, he let his grief out. The sound that reverberated across the battlefield was inhuman; shrieking.
It hurt just to hear him scream.

This is where Konoha no Hana began for me. A tiny "what if" fanfic written on an overly sunny day.
This is right at the beginning of my doujin, maybe even just before. There are some mild SasuNaru elements throughought the whole thing, buuut since Naruto is broon breid (= deid = dead) there obviously can't be anything more than there is here. And that's barely even a kiss.
Before you ask, if I reveal how he was beaten, it'll spoil too much. You just have to wait!
Synopsis:
Set approximately 2 years after Shippuden, Naruto and Sasuke have finally had their final encounter - resulting in Naruto's untimely death. Sasuke begins his solo attacks on Konoha with a new, relentless force, having lost the two most important people in his world.
Hinata is driven into an insane training regime that endangers herself as a helpless Kiba watches from the sidelines. Lee is mourning. In the midst of everything, Kakashi finds himself in an extraordinary situation as he struggles with his duties as the new Hokage, and Sakura is left alone, watching as her childhood crush picks off her friends one by one...
